Accessibility in 2023-24

Summer using her phone

We are leading the way in accessibility, innovating with new video and screen reader accessible Easy Read documents to ensure everyone can access the information. Our accessible resources were downloaded over 13,600 times in 2023-24 and our website was ranked in the top 10% of websites globally for accessibility.

Through all of this work, we were proud to be named as finalists for the Accessible Comms Award at the Charity Comms Inspiring Communicator Awards 2023.

Each time someone can read information in a format that works for them, we take a step closer to inclusion.

Supporting people to access good quality, clear information is so important to us. We continue to add to our resource library with more Easy Read resources about difficult topics, like dealing with death, the menopause and finding a job.

We also work towards a more inclusive community within SeeAbility, with new accessibility training now a part of the SeeAbility induction. Our new colleague accessibility learning hub includes guides and videos on how to make our documents and communication accessible. Accessibility at SeeAbility isn't optional!

For the first time, our annual report has a screen reader accessible version, so people with visual impairments can read the complicated financial information it contains.

Our Impact Report in 2022-23 was our first fully digital Impact Report. It was celebrated for bringing together new levels of accessibility and creativity. This year we’re pushing our creativity further, while still maintaining accessibility for screen reader users and people with sensory processing issues. Of course ,we also have our Easy Read Impact Report, so people can choose the format that works best for them.

We are now developing our accessibility and inclusion support offer to support external organisations to improve their accessibility. There are a lot of exciting plans to come in 2024-25, so watch this space!
