Document accessibility

A simple way to ensure your customers are able to read all your materials and documents is to pass them through us for an accessibility check.

This would cover screen reader accessibility, colour contrast and more for people with visual impairments, checks of appropriate language and any visual features that would impact negatively on people with sensory processing issues.

For documents, we will review for accessibility and make any needed changes to provide a fully accessible document. Note – for colour contrast, we may not be able to make the changes in document ourselves, depending on the document file type. For these edits, we would provide a recommendation for accessibility changes you should make.

Plain English and Easy Read translations

The average reading age in the UK is 9, so writing in plain English gives you a greater chance at your audience fully understanding your information. We can ‘translate’ your documents or web pages into plain English, as well as creating Easy Read versions for people with learning disabilities.

Easy Read is an accessible form of content writing for people with learning disabilities. It uses short, simple sentences with pictures. This way of writing makes complex information easier to understand. Any Easy Read documents created will be tested by a person with learning disabilities to ensure it is as easy as possible to understand.
