Aon and SeeAbility join forces to promote eye care
At Aon’s Empower Results for Colleagues Day on 8th March, SeeAbility delivered an informative and interactive session where employees in the Epsom office learned about common sight problems and the measures they can take to look after their eyes and vision.
Following a presentation by Noopur Patel, SeeAbility’s Optometry Practice Manager, Aon employees were invited to try on a pair of spectacles that simulate different visual impairments including severe short-sightedness, loss of peripheral vision and loss of sight in one eye.
They then attempted to pour themselves a drink and serve sweets from a jar, showing how sight loss can make everyday tasks challenging and how SeeAbility supports people with learning disabilities and sight loss to achieve new things every day.
The session complemented a wide programme of activities available on Aon’s Empower Results for Colleagues Day (a day on which all of Aon’s employees, globally, are encouraged to focus on personal growth through owning their career and wellbeing) and attendees found it to be a valuable introduction to eye care.
SeeAbility urged people to remember three key rules: get regular eye checks, take breaks from looking at screens, and wear glasses when needed.
Chintan Gandhi, Principal Consultant at Aon, says:
Everyone certainly learned a lot, and many have since booked to get their eyes checked too! We are excited to continue our partnership with SeeAbility, supporting the charity’s excellent work on Aon’s Empower Results for Communities Day, in June.
Aon’s support continued at the end of March when they held a fundraising dress down day and bake off. Susie, who is supported by SeeAbility in Ashtead, loved judging the cakes and choosing the winner of the Parkside House Star Baker apron. The day raised an amazing £444 for SeeAbility!
