Feeling proud at Pride: SeeAbility attend London Pride for the first time
This year SeeAbility attended Pride in London for the first time in partnership with our sponsor RPC. We were together with 500 other businesses and LGBTQAI+ Communities with around 32,000 people walking the parade in total.
Pride in London left people feeling a profound sense of empowerment, joy, and hope for a more inclusive future, while also serving as a reminder of the ongoing struggles and the importance of continued advocacy for LGBTQAI+ rights and inclusion.
It marked a significant milestone for SeeAbility in our journey for creating and embracing a truly inclusive culture for our colleagues and for people we support.
We aim to continue to grow together to make positive change. This is just the start for us as an organisation and the Pride network.
We look forward to next year and what is to come.
Wayne, a member of the Pride network, commented:
“It was both an honour and a pleasure to be at Pride on Saturday representing SeeAbility. The atmosphere was incredible, electric, joyful and yet reflective at the same time. It felt so wonderful to be part of something which symbolised unity, diversity, and in general, togetherness. My friend Paul who is totally blind like me really loved it too. I can’t wait to go again next year”
Lesley was also there, attending Pride for the first time:
“I started the day not knowing what I had signed up for and ended the day with euphoria. If you have ever dreamed about walking in the middle of the road in central London, with a beer in hand (without being arrested - not that I have ever done it before) high-fiving, wishing everyone a happy Pride and they you, unified whistling, music, dancing, feeling proud, a sense of unity and community, and supporting someone special, then next year this is for you. I even found a new icon Bebe Rexha. Such a day, such a memory!”
Martin, Executive Director of People at SeeAbility, and a member of the Pride network, commented:
“I was honoured to attend London Pride for the first time with our colleagues, people we support, Southwark partners and RPC International Law Firm, celebrating the powerful intersection of disability and being part of the LGBTQIA+ community. This event underscores our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can embrace their authentic selves. Together, we can break down barriers and make change happen.”
All this was possible through funding from RPC, who supported the event. RPC is recognised for its continued commitment to inclusion, diversity, and belonging. The firm culture thrives on the principles of trust and respect, making it clear that diversity and inclusion are important parts of its identity.
Carmen Dennis, who attended the Pride march from RPC, commented:
What an amazing day it was!! It was so wonderful to work with SeeAbility and share smiles all day long. Core memories were made, and I was so proud to support and shine a light on the intersection of disability and LGBTQ+ inclusion at this year's London Pride, raising awareness for the need for increased accessibility and support.
Adam Nuhi, also from RPC commented:
An unforgettable day with the SeeAbility community. It was particularly wonderful to join tens of thousands of people enthusiastically cheering and celebrating those people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss, and those SeeAbility employees who joined us on the march - something they all deserve.
