The Life-changing Innowalk Pro arrives at Heather House

Last Christmas, we raised money for a brand new Innowalk Pro for our specialist nursing home, Heather House, through our Big Give Gift of Movement Campaign. We're excited to announce that this week, the Innowalk was successfully delivered! This cutting-edge robotic rehabilitation trainer promises life-transforming movement for young people living with neurodegenerative life-limiting conditions.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Lisa Hopkins, CEO of SeeAbility, and Lady Judith Colman, one of the our Vice Presidents and loyal supporter, marks a significant milestone for Heather House. The Innowalk Pro will empower young people with life limiting conditions such as juvenile CLN3 (Batten) disease and Rett syndrome, to take control of their body, movement, and health. This device will help maintain mobility in a safe and comfortable way, enhancing their quality of life.

Lisa expressed her gratitude:

“I would like to thank my colleagues here at Heather House, who are extremely dedicated and go above and beyond every day to ensure that the young people we support are loved, thriving and enjoying their lives.

“We are also indebted to everyone who supported our Big Give appeal. Without the amazing fundraising efforts of parents and friends of Heather House, and our long-standing donors, this achievement simply would not have been possible.”

Lizzie is a young person supported at Heather House.  Her mother is excited by the possibilities of the new Innowalk:

“When the team first got the demonstration of the Innowalk walk last year and put Lizzie in it, they could tell it was going to make a difference. It's empowering. She holds herself differently. She looks at you in the eye and from that perspective it adds another dimension to her relationship with the team.”

SeeAbility will celebrate its 225th anniversary this year. The charity invites the community to join in celebrating this milestone by volunteering time and expertise, or donating so that the charity can continue to bring new opportunities for people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss to live, love, thrive and belong.
