Tesco’s Bags of Help 2019 Centenary Grant initiative has awarded over £75 million to over 25,000 community projects and we’re so pleased to announce we’re one of them!

Local shoppers in the Manchester area voted at the end of last year for their favourite community projects with tokens after shopping and we’ve been awarded £10,000!

Community projects are at the heart of the Tesco initiative and this money will help fund our ‘Every Day in Focus’ initiative. The project, which is led by people with learning disabilities, will see our Eye Care Champions (pictured above) going into Manchester schools, workplaces and community groups sharing information about eye care and encouraging others to get the support they need.

I have an eye condition which was thankfully picked up early on and treated. If it hadn’t been treated, I would be a lot less independent now. Access to eye care for people with learning disabilities is a complete lottery and I was one of the lucky ones. I want to make sure that people in the Manchester area with learning disabilities get good eye care and vision, so that they can play a full part in our communities.
