Our impact in 2023-2024 easy read
This is our impact report.
It explains how we have made a difference to people’s lives over the past year.
We are really excited to share all our hard work!
We have made a difference to over 22,000 people through our work.
All of our homes are rated as good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
CQC are an organisation that decides how good support services are.
They make sure people are getting the right support.
We carried out 2,883 sight tests to children in special schools.
Lots of experts said that we were doing well.
We want to make sure people with learning disabilities get more opportunities and live better lives.
All our work is aimed at three goals:
1. Improving lives through good support
2. Making sure people get the eye care they need
3. Supporting more people to be involved in society
We have continued supporting people to live exciting lives.
We have helped people to achieve their dreams.
We have opened new homes in Kent and Dorset.
This is Mikey.
We have supported Mikey to be more confident and happy.
He can now take the bus.
He gets out the house a lot, doing things he enjoys.
People with learning disabilities are 10 times more likely to have eye problems.
We have been carrying out eye tests in special schools.
We convinced the government to give eye tests to every child who is in a special school in England.
This is really good news!
Our Eye Care Champions help adults with learning disabilities to get the right eye care.
They helped 3863 people this year.
They also started an Easy Eye Care Service in South East London.
An Easy Eye Care Service helps people with learning disabilities to find eye care near home.
We want people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss to be in control of their lives.
We have a team of people with disabilities called Listen Up!
They raise awareness and speak up about the changes they want to see in society.
They spoke to 1400 people in the last year.
We also help people with disabilities to find jobs.
This is through our programme called Ready, Willing and Able.
This year is exciting for SeeAbility.
It is our 225th birthday.
We will be celebrating our birthday.
We want to keep improving the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss.
Our Listen Up team will keep talking about what matters to them.
We want to pay our staff more money.
We want to get better at supporting people.
We are excited to keep making a difference.
Thank you to everyone who has supported SeeAbility over the past year.
